The service has been the catch-all for Rockstar’s online services since its 2008 launch for Grand Theft Auto IV. This launcher is the latest initiative likely aimed at expanding Rockstar Games Social Club, the publisher’s official online player communications service. It’ll also achieve other basic game launcher functionalities, such as keeping games automatically updated. This launcher’s auto save feature is new to Rockstar’s online functionalities, as is the ability to keep track of your Rockstar library. The Rockstar Games Launcher syncs games with both its in-client purchases and those made on other online storefronts, such as Steam, as well as any physical/disc copies. Their own version of the launcher, simply called the Rockstar Games Launcher, is now available for free on PC. Rockstar Games is the latest publisher to throw their hat into the game launcher ring.
